Our Mission

Get to know St. Stephen!

St. Stephen is a part of the historic African Methodist Episcopal Church, one of the largest and most influential organizations world-wide. Founded in 1787 by Richard Allen along with his contemporaries, the AME Church was born out of protest and a refusal to accept religious discrimination as a condition for worship. We were the first protestant denomination to be established by Black people in the United States. Allen sought to liberate people of color not only by means of religious freedom but through social, economic and political empowerment.

The dream lives on here at St. Stephen where that same spirit of vision, passion and determination remains. We are God-centered and community oriented combining the best of both worlds as we seek to make a real difference not just in your life as a member of the body of Christ but in the lives of those around you. Our doors are open to “all” who seek to truly experience the “fullness” of God’s Word in a welcoming, warm and nurturing environment. Come see for yourself!
